CytoSport officials state that the company focuses on creating natural dietary and sports nutrition supplements and is against the manufacturing and use of steroids, prohormones or androstenedione. The company's founder, Greg Pickett, insists that he uses CytoSport products himself.

Cytomax Recovery is formulated with sugar, carbohydrates and polylactate to move energy though the body to replace liver and muscle glycogen to aid in the body's recovery process following a workout or training session. It also helps lower blood sugar spikes. It contains amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and minerals. This product is available in four flavors: Mountain Mocha, Orange Smoothie, Chocolate Milk and Vantage Vanilla. This product contains 18 grams of fat per serving, but is trans fat-free.

Directions

Take this supplement one to two hours after training. Men and women who weigh less than 150 pounds can take two scoops mixed into 12 ounces of water. Individuals over 150 pounds can double the serving. This amount can be consumed at once or taken in two separate amounts within a 30-minute period. Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding, individuals with medical conditions and those taking medications should consult a physician before using Cytomax Recovery.

Ingredients

Evopro Plus: custom protein, branched-chain and free-form amino acid matrix (micellar alpha and beta caseins and caseinates, whey concentrates, whey isolates, milk protein isolates, purified bovine colostrum extract, L-glutamine, L-arginine, L-isoleucine, L-leucine, L-valine and lactoferrin). Leanlipids: trans fat-free lipid complex selected for thermogenic and unique energy properties (canola oil, sunflower oil, enzyme engineered polyunsaturated long-chain vegetable oils, MCTs, L-carnitine). Cytocarb III: unique complex carbohydrate blend including amylopectin starches, maltodextrins, fructose. Cytovite I: vitamin and mineral premix consisting of (vitamin A acetate, beta carotene, cholecalciferol, D-alpha-tocopherol acetate, ascorbic acid, folate, thiamin monohydrate, riboflavin, niacinamide, pyridoxine HCL, cyanocobalamin, biotin, pantothenic acid, dicalcium phosphate, potassium iodide, potassium chloride, ferrous fumarate, magnesium oxide, copper gluconate, and zinc oxide). Alpha-L-Polylactate: (patented L-lactate formulation containing non-acidic L-lactate ionically bound to L-arginine), natural and artificial flavors, acesulfame potassium, sucralose, chromium nicotinate.

Recalls and Warnings

CytoSport stresses that the ingredients listed on its labels are exactly the ingredients contained in its products. However, in 2001 the FDA issued a warning to owner Greg Pickett, citing dietary supplement label violation. It stated that the ProPower products were misbranded because they contained artificial flavors and were not labeled as such. Other label claims were not made in accordance with FDA regulations.
