Prolab has been developing sports supplements since 1989. Although they state on their website that they are innovative, their formulas are nothing out of the ordinary - a more fitting strategy would be to market their renown for producing quality products that are sold at an affordable price.
Glutamine, according to Prolab, is the most abundant amino acid in our skeletal muscle, and one that is heavily metabolized under intense training conditions. They suggest that glutamine supplements may improve muscle recovery after intense exercise, by helping your system replenish its energy stores and by aiding your body in maintaining a healthy immune system. Glutamine may also help maximize the body's capacity for buffering against acid build up. Prolab boasts that their glutamine supplement has cell volumizing and anti-catabolic properties.Prolab likes to promote its Glutamine powder with scientific-sounding claims, but in the end what they promise is much the same as any other brand of glutamine supplement - taking it may have beneficial effects on muscle breakdown and recovery and on the immune system. The serving size they suggest is a little lower than average (with no special claims for potency to explain the difference), and they don't specify that you should take it after working out or before bed like most other brands do. Their Glutamine is a popular choice at BodyBuilding.com, winning Glutamine Product of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
Prolab suggests taking one rounded teaspoon of Glutamine powder per day, dissolving it in water or in your favorite beverage.
