Pacific Health is a nutrition technology company that's been specializing in patented, protein-based supplements since 1995. They emphasize the discovery, development and commercialization of nutritional products for weight loss, management of Type 2 Diabetes and sports performance. Pacific Health's technology aims toward two main areas: simulating peptides involved in appetite regulation and activating biochemical pathways to enhance muscle performance and growth. Although the trademarks for two products developed by Pacific Health - Accelerade sports drink and Endurox R4 recovery drink - now belong to Mott's, Pacific Health still retains full control of Endurox pills.
Endurox is a pre-workout supplement based on a standardized extract of ciwujia - an herb that, according to Pacific Health, has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for 1700 years (other sources suggest that ciwujia is basically a form of ginseng). This "natural dietary supplement" is designed to increase fat metabolism by shifting the body's energy source from carbs to fat, reducing lactic acid build-up to cut down on soreness and muscle fatigue and improving workout performance overall. It's said to help fight tiredness and boost the immune system. It's even supposed to be good for high altitude mountain climbing. A U.S. patent for Endurox was approved in 1996.
Adults should take two capsules with water once a day, while adhering to a regular workout regimen.

Though a popular seller at some sites - more so with the newer Excel formula that has more ciwujia and added vitamin E - Endurox gets mixed reviews. Some people swear by its energizing and fat-burning properties; others are skeptical of Pacific Health's claims, particularly about the product's effect on lactic acid build-up. Ginseng is associated with elevated moods, increased energy and immune system health - good for bodybuilders' endurance and recovery - so with its use of ciwujia, Endurox has at least one point in its favor.
