Weight Loss Participant Profile

Weight loss study to determine which supplement is most effective: Hydroxycut, Cortislim, Lean System 7 or Lipo 6

Monica Shaw - Cortislim

Monica is a 24-year-old female who has been active in the gym for the past four years. Monica hasn’t tried any supplements before. She says her eating habits are decent - she doesn’t eat consistently, but her meals are generally healthy. However, the more stressed she gets, the worse her eating habits become.
Goals: Monica wants to lose between 10 to 15 pounds.
Results: Monica actually ended up gaining weight while taking Cortislim. She said when she started taking the supplement, she had a quicker heartbeat and a lot more energy. But in terms of weight loss and results, she didn’t notice much from taking it and probably wouldn’t take the product again.

Lindsay Davis - Cortislim

Lindsay is a 37-year-old female who stays active by walking each day for about 40 minutes. Lindsay hasn’t tried any other supplements before, and she says her eating habits are terrible. She doesn’t eat a lot of take-out, but does eat a lot of bread and not enough fiber.
Goals: Lindsay would like to increase the intensity of her walks and lose about 10 to 15 pounds.
Results: Lindsay didn’t lose very much weight and lost less than one percent body fat during the study. She says she didn’t find the supplement to be very helpful. It made her feel bloated and uncomfortable, and it didn’t help to curb her appetite as the label claimed. She wouldn’t try Cortislim again - it didn’t make her feel right.

Cathy Miller - Placebo

Cathy is a 49-year-old female. She works out consistently about three to four times a week and does a weight circuit at her gym. She rates her eating habits as good, saying she eats balanced meals consistently throughout the day. Cathy hasn’t tried any other supplements before.
Goals: Cathy would like to tone her midsection and lose about eight pounds overall.
Results: Cathy was taking a placebo product and didn’t notice a difference. Her measurements didn’t change much during the study.

Sebastian Myers - Placebo

Sebastian is a 30-year-old male. He’s been working out, on and off, for the last seven years. When he does go to the gym, it’s usually about two to three times a week, and he does weights and cardio. Sebastian has tried quite a few protein bars and powders before, but has never used a weight-loss product. He says his eating habits are really bad. He doesn’t eat consistently and eats a lot of take-out. He’s trying to eat breakfast more consistently and knows he needs to start eating smaller meals more frequently throughout the day.
Goals: Sebastian wants to lose his “gut” and put on some upper-body muscle mass.
Results: Even though he was taking a placebo product, Sebastian was convinced this product was working for him and actually felt nervous and jittery when he first started taking it - a psychosomatic effect. He said the most difficult part of taking a supplement was trying to remember to take the product each day, several times a day.

Greg Thomas - Placebo

Greg is a 47-year-old male. He stays active by swimming, biking and playing hockey, but because he’s had knee surgery, he isn’t as active as he’d like to be. Greg says his eating habits are OK. He doesn’t eat that often and sometimes just eats dinner, but he tries to consume foods that are lower in calories. Greg hasn’t tried any other supplements before.
Goals: Greg wants to become more active, and he would also like to lose at least 10 pounds.
Results: Greg was taking a placebo product and didn’t notice any difference from taking it. Interestingly, Greg still lost about three percent in body fat and one pound overall. This may be attributed to increased exercise which came along with his participation in the study.

Melissa Brown - Lean System 7

Melissa is a 51-year-old female. She currently stays active by walking for an hour a day. She would rate her eating habits as good, which is important to her as she is borderline diabetic and needs to be careful of what she eats. She usually prepares her meals at home and generally has vegetables and meat. She says she only eats out about once a week. Melissa hasn’t tried any other supplements before.
Goals: Melissa wants to lose a couple of inches around her belly and upper body. She’d also like to lose approximately 40 pounds.
Results: Melissa actually gained some weight during the study, but her body fat percentage went down about one percent and she lost three inches overall. Melissa also commented on the difficulty of remembering to take her supplements several times a day. She didn’t experience any negative side effects, but didn’t notice a difference either. She wouldn’t recommend this product to others as she didn’t really find it to be that effective.

Joshua Peters - Lean System 7

Joshua is a former semi-pro football player. He is a 30-year-old male who now stays active by playing hockey and going to the gym about two to three times a week. He rates his eating habits as poor and says he makes his own meals, but usually only eats one to two meals a day. Joshua hasn’t tried any other supplements before.
Goals: Joshua has a short-term goal of going down to 325 pounds. In the long term, he would like to reduce his weight to 275 pounds.
Results: Joshua didn’t really see results from taking this supplement. He probably wouldn’t use it again, as he wasn’t satisfied with the results.

Adam Smith - Lipo 6

Adam is a 58-year-old male. He stays active by playing hockey about four times a week. He’s never tried any other supplements before, and says his eating habits are average.
Goals: Adam doesn’t have any set goals. He just wants to see how the supplements work overall.
Results: Adam ended up dropping out of the study. He found Lipo 6 was too strong for him, and was concerned with the jittery feeling he felt when taking a supplement that contained caffeine. He said he couldn’t concentrate and felt his reactions were out of control.  

Kelly Mallard - Lean System 7

Kelly is a 42-year-old female who stays active by walking. She says her eating habits are decent - she eats consistently throughout the day and tries to limit junk food, but when she’s stressed out, that doesn’t always happen.. She consumes a lot of Lean Cuisine and frozen foods. She’s tried a weight-loss supplement before but doesn’t really remember which one. She said it didn’t really work that well..
Goals: Kelly wants to lose some weight and would like to get back on track with her workouts.
Results: Kelly found Lean System 7 to be effective. Overall, she lost six inches, dropped two percent body fat and lost 1.6 pounds. She found the supplement to be OK if she took it with food; on an empty stomach, it made her somewhat nauseous. Kelly would take Lean System 7 again and would recommend it to someone else who wanted to lose weight.

Sara Castings - Hydroxycut

Sara is a 32-year-old female. She’s been working out for a couple of months now and tries to go to the gym about three to four times a week. She usually does about 30 minutes on the stationary bike or does an aerobics video. She does an hour of yoga once a week. Sara rates her eating habits as OK. She eats about three meals a day and snacks regularly. Her meals are healthy, balanced and never restrictive. She doesn’t deprive herself of cravings but doesn’t eat a lot of junk either. Sara usually eats at a restaurant once or twice a week. She hasn’t tried any other supplements in the past.
Goals: Sara wants to lose about 15 to 20 pounds by next summer for her wedding. She hopes that she can lose about one to two pounds a week by using a weight-loss supplement.
Results: Sara lost four inches overall and her body fat went down by two percent. She only lost one pound but was happy with her results. She didn’t notice many negative side effects with Hydroxycut, except it was difficult to fall asleep the first week. She would probably use the product again. Sara said it wasn’t a miracle product, but definitely helped to speed things up a bit, which was a good thing.
